GOUZELIS, DIMITRIOS (Zakynthos, 1774 - Ilia, 1843) A very important author of the 18th century who in his prime youth wrote satirical verses, but was mostly made known through his verse-comedy "Hassis" written in 1795. The play follows the dialect of Zakynthos and has as its model the ZAKYNTHIAN SPEECHES (kind of popular, folk theatre).
